Carbon Fuels

Since its formation, IER through both its subsidiary and associated companies has been involved in the exploration, production and international commercialisation of Carbon fuels including coal, anthracite and other carbon products such as industrial charcoal etc.

The fuels commercialised by the organisation have been primarily consumed by industrial clients within the Power, Thermal, Metallurgical, Chemical, Ceramic and Cement sectors in over 60 countries around the world. To many of the countries to which IER has exported the company has been responsible for pioneering the opening of new markets as well as introducing and developing new technical applications and the supporting logistics systems etc. As a result, IER has developed considerable expertise in this field.

Forestry

The activities of IER in the forestry sector date back to the formation of the subsidiary company Forex in South Africa in 1977. The company was established to take responsibility for developing, implementing and managing international commercial and logistics operations for the export of important tonnages of hard and soft woods, to the pulp and paper industries of countries including Spain, Italy, Sweden, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan. Over the years the supply capabilities of the organisation have extended to include other parts of Africa, North & South America and Iberia.

Agriculture

IER first became involved in the Agricultural Sector through its forestry operations in Southern Africa in support of the Forex Group. Since then the organisation has furthermore developed significant expertise in the planting, harvesting and processing of diversified annual crops. This has enabled the company to make significant advances in the move towards the development of various commercial energy crop operations.

Furthermore IER has and is in the process of forming close alliances with other agricultural companies and cooperatives involved in the production and processing of both edible and nonedible oils, sugars and alcohols as well as solid bio-mass residues etc. As a result the expertise and capabilities of the organisation in the field of Bio-Fuels are significant and continue to develop.

Biofuels

Since 1999 the Company has actively promoted the use of Agro-Forestry Biomass for CoCombustion in Coal Fuelled Power Stations and subsequently the supply of Fuel to dedicated Biomass Plants. Furthermore IER continues to develop renewable energy and related utility technologies and has associated companies involved in the production and processing of both solid and liquid bio-fuels such as pellets, wood chips, ethanol and bio-oils.

IER’s Bio-Fuels Division is now a significant and reliable supplier to a growing number of European Coal Fired and dedicated Bio-Mass Power Stations and in this capacity has been tasked to ensure reliable high quality fuel supplies and blends, tailored to each client’s particular requirements and combustion technology. In this regard, IER’s most important markets include Spain, Portugal, Italy, the United Kingdom, the Benelux and Sweden.

The fuels currently supplied are primarily sourced in the Mediterranean Basin, Africa, South East Asia and both North and South America and include: Wood Logs and Wood Chips, Pellets of various kinds, Charcoals, Olive Cake and Olive Stone, Palm Oil Kernels and Extracts, Grape Residues and Almond Shells.

Moreover and due to the rapid growth experienced within this Division, the decision has recently been taken to establish “Integra Fuels”, as a Group Company specialised in the Production, Acquisition and Commercialisation of various Bio-Mass products as well as the Management of Bio-Fuel supply contracts and Blends for Co-Combustion. “Integra-Fuels” will therefore operate as an executive supply coordinator and or fuel supply / quality consultant as well as a principal source of Bio-Fuel supplies to its clients.
